Joinery: Kreg Pocket-hole Joint
Joinery: Kreg Pocket-hole Joint
by Chris the aspiring wood worker
Hi All
So we either aspire to be or inspired by, either or it seem to be part of the circle of life especially for us inspired or aspiring woodworkers. Bit of a mouthful….sure, but don’t we all bite off a bit more than we can chew.
For example, I generally have most of the electronic and trickster tools and machines that the average amateur woodworker has, however we always looking for that tool that we think is so clever because we actually just lazy and we love the term “Technology” that makes our lives easier.
So in my quest to make a table without having an industrial drum sander I decided to plain and simply “Cheat” I needed to laminate 4 pieces of 20mm black wood together, can I laminate? Sure….do I enjoy it?…Sometimes however not on this occasion and decided to use my Kreg Jig. Pocket holes here we come.
After thicknessing them, they were not all straight so I prepped and drilled each board and then proceeded to “laminate” them with a little glue and a good old Kreg screw. After manipulating the boards together and a bit of sweat and cursing…..I was the Victor. I then proceeded to attach the legs to the plinth, “with a dowel and a Kreg screw, I might add.”
At the end all worked out well and with a bit of sanding and varnishing I have completed my table.
