Whiteside Router Bits – Specialist Router Bits from America
Founded in 1970, the Whiteside Machine Company was established as a general-purpose machine shop that started in the basement of Bill & Bobbie Whiteside’s home in Western North Carolina. Being located near the soaring furniture manufacturing town of Hickory, the Whiteside Machine Company had often been instrumental in the repairing and the making of special tools and parts for the local furniture and woodworking industry.
After years of dedicated service to this local market, the Whiteside Machine Company soon grew into becoming a manufacturer of woodworking tooling and equipment. The company has since evolved from the Whiteside family’s basement to a 40,000 sq. ft. a manufacturing facility that produces a complete line of solid carbide and carbide tipped router bits for the specialist woodworking market. The innovation and high-quality of the Whiteside router bits have continued throughout the ever-increasing product line.
The Whiteside Machine Company is always endeavoring to strive for product improvements and the development of new technologies to improve production techniques, and ongoing research and development efforts. Along with rigid quality control, vital customer feedback as well as extensive field testing, the family-owned Whiteside Machine Company has become synonymous with great-quality tooling.
Along with providing a more premium alternative to some of the router bits already available to the South African market today, the Whiteside Machine Company has developed a few specialist router bit and bit sets that are unique to any of that found locally.

Whiteside Spiral Cutting Router Bits
The Whiteside range of spiral cutters are available in various shank and cutting sizes and are machined from solid carbide. The production quality of these bits will provide exceptional results for serious woodworkers. The RU bits refer to the Upcut Spiral router bits whereas the RD bits refer to the Downcut Spiral router bits.
The up-cut spiral cutters provide a smooth cut in all plunge routing operations. The spiral design pulls the waste material away from the cut, leaving a flat-bottomed mortise, and permitting accurate cuts without having any chatter in the wood.
The down-cut spiral pattern provides the best top surface edges, ejecting chips away from the router when routing through material. In short, for a clean top you would use the Down-Cut Spiral and for a clean bottom – the Up-Cut Spiral Bit is best.
